Notice the buttons labeled "telnet" and "ftp" on the right side of the window. Clicking the "telnet" button will launch a Telnet session using Hyper Terminal to the IP address of this device. Likewise, clicking the "ftp" button will launch a new browser window in FTP mode. In this particular example, IntraVUE™ determined that this device does not support FTP services, so the "ftp" button is grayed-out and disabled.

Many Ethernet devices, including managed switches and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), have their own built in web servers that allow the user to configure various parameters. IntraVUE™ automatically detects the presence of HTTP services in devices and will pre-configure a hyperlink accordingly. In this example, the clicking the button labeled "Internal Web Server" will launch a new browser window pointing to the IP address of this device.
