The Patented 2C3x series Self-Healing
Ring Modules provides fiber media redundancy when utilized in each
node or drop of a EOTec 2000 system fiber optic ring-network. Two
versions of the module are available:
- The Model 2C31 is designed specifically for use in ControlNet®
applications in conjunction with the Model
2C20 Electrical Interface Module
- The Model 2C30 supports non-ControlNet® applications in
conjunction with any Electrical
Interface Module other than the 2C20.
The 2C3x device detects and redirects data to the secondary fiber
path when a break in the fiber occurs between two adjacent nodes.
The 2C3x automatically resets when the fiber path has been restored.
Visible LED indicators in conjunction with relay contacts provide
local and remote monitoring of the integrity of the fiber optic
network.
The configuration of a Self-Healing Ring modem consists of a Power
Supply, an Electrical Interface, a Self-Healing Ring and two Optical
Interface Modules. Inter-module communications and operating power
is achieved through the integrated module backplane connections.
