Messaging Functions
The MMI-220 can store a large number of messages. Message numbers
can range from 1 to 65500. A register called the Message Triggering
Register (MTR) is defined in the PLC. The MMI-220 reads the contents
of this register in every scan and the message corresponding to the
number in the MTR is displayed on the MMI-220. A message can be
assigned to each line on the MMI-220. Messages can scroll, flash,
have minimum time for display and can be chained to other messages
or can have data displayed as a bar graph making the unit
very user friendly. The MMI-220 can also print message via the
on-board serial printer port.
Push-Button Keys
The unit has 24 defined push-buttons. Each button can be defined to
perform any one of the following actions:
- Turn On/Off a bit in the PLC
- Hold ON/OFF a bit in the PLC
- Toggle a bit in the PLC
- Download a constant to a PLC register
- Display a Labeled register or bit in a List
Function Keys
The MMI-220 has the following keys to facilitate entering data and
scrolling through displays:
- SHIFT
- NEXT
- PREV (previous)
- NUM (number)
Annuciator Functions
Each of the 20 buttons on the MMI-220 has an LED that can be
programmed to correspond to a bit in a user designated register pair
in the PLC.
The unit contains a piezo electric beeper which is programmed in a
similar procedure as the LEDs (above). The beeper can be disabled by
the programming software.
An open-collector discrete output on the MMI-220 provides external
annuciator equipment to be activated by the same register bits
designated for the LED lamps. This output is rated at 24Vdc at
100mA.
