Tree Tech Model AVR
The Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is used to maintain
within adjusted limits the voltage in the secondary of power
transformers equipped with on-load tap changers (OLTC).
The alphanumeric display on the AVR faceplate
indicates line voltages and loads, line current, active, apparent,
and reactive powers, frequency, and power factor. Regulation is
obtained when the voltage is deviated for a certain amount of time
beyond preset parameters, causing command pulses from the AVR to the
OLTC, which raises or lowers taps, maintaining the secondary
voltage.
In transformers without parallel operation, the
AVR can be used jointly with the Tree Tech
Model PI Position Indicator, which performs the Manual/Automatic
and Raise/Lower selections.
