Response Relays
The function of the Rapid (RR) and Ultra-Rapid (UR)
Auxiliary Relays is to multiply a signal into several independent
contacts without a substantial time delay in its transmission.
The importance of the response time may be noticed, for instance,
when the relay is used in protection systems for power transformers,
where a small delay in the emission of a trip signal may increase
the damages caused by an internal failure.
Rapid Relay, Model RR, provides 4 reversible contacts with an
operation time less than 2.5 ms and capable of switching both DC and
AC loads.
The Ultra-Rapid Relay, Model UR, provides 4 normally open
contacts (N.O.), with an operation time less than 0.3 ms and capable
of switching both DC and AC loads.
The devices are comprised of solid-state electronic circuits with
optical coupling between the command and output circuits. Therefore,
it does not employ any mechanical contact. This design renders it
free of electrical and mechanical limits related to the number of
operations of conventional relays.
