The ProTalk 100 is a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
protocol converter for Modbus® devices. This module is used to
provide a connection to other systems using a communication
protocol, such as Conitel, PERT 26/31, CDD II or any one of many
other protocols. The ProTalk 100 emulates the communications
protocol of the Master, allowing a standard Modbus® device to be
used as a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) in any SCADA system.
The ProTalk 100 has a built in Bell 202 modem which can
communicate with a SCADA master in either 2 wire or 4 wire
configuration. The ProTalk 100 communicates with the Modbus® device
over an RS-232 communications link.
An MS-Windows™ based program is provided with the ProTalk 100
to allow data to be mapped between the Modbus® protocol and the
SCADA protocol. The data map is downloaded into non-volatile memory
in the ProTalk 100.
