This all solid state module provides a cost
effective method for interfacing 8 isolated discrete DC input field
signals to PLCs or RTUs that don't support isolated inputs or can't
handle higher voltages like 125VDC.
Each module provides true isolation for 8 field
inputs that meet IEEE/ANSI 37.90.1 Surge Withstand specifications.
Depending on the model selected, the module will accommodate 24, 48
or 125VDC on the input channels. The inputs are wired to removable
terminal blocks at the top of the module.
The outputs are non-isolated with a single
common return, to "sink" or "sourced" circuits,
based on the model ordered. Modules are available with a standard
DB9F connector or a removable terminal block to connect the 8 output
channels and their common to the control system.
Output voltage is determined by a user supplied
power source that powers the module. This power source can be any DC
supply in the range of 12 to 125VDC that matches the input
requirements of the target control system. A removable terminal
block on the lower left face of the module provides the connection
point.
Using the Monaghan Input Isolator allows one to
fulfill the requirements of handling isolated and high voltage field
signals by: a) using less costly low voltage and/or non-isolated
control system components
b) saving the expense of adding less reliable and slower acting
interposing relays.
Compact and built to withstand -20 to
+85°C, the Monaghan Input Isolator is designed to be installed on a
standard DIN rail in locations remote from the control system,
offering the potential for additional cost savings in control panel
construction. plus the safety of physically isolating high voltage
field signals from the control system.
